Johns Disposal | Mack Trucks

In southeastern Wisconsin, a story of legacy unfolds through the ongoing success of Johns Disposal Service Inc., a family-owned and operated waste management company.

When Johns Disposal first opened its doors in 1969, it was a modest operation with a simple goal: to provide reliable waste management services to its community. The company and the number of services it provides have grown over the years, building on its reputation for dedication to reliable service. But as the waste management industry evolves, so too must the tools and partnerships that support it.

Brian Jongetjes, the second generation of leadership at Johns Disposal, reflects on the journey that began with his father, John, the company’s founder.

“My father built this business from the ground up. I’ve been in the business my whole adult life since 1980. It remains a family-owned and operated business."

– Brian Jongetjes,
Owner – Johns Disposal

Dan Jongetjes, who is third generation says “We were running the old Mack Trucks, and now what’s so cool to see today is we’re running the brand-new Macks, fully automated side-loading trucks. It’s such a morale boost for the company.”

MACK IS BACK

Johns’ decision to bring Mack Trucks back to their operations started with a relationship that has proven essential to its growing business. “We were buying other brands,” Brian explains, “but we got to know Garrett, and it’s been great working with him. He’s been great to get us trucks for our business.”

Kriete Truck Centers Mack Sales Manager, Garrett Schaefer’s determination made a big impact. He wasn’t just selling trucks—he was providing solutions to Johns’ needs. In 1979, Johns bought their first Mack, used on home routes in Jefferson. Now, Johns runs several Mack LRs and Pinnacle trucks in their three-site operation, and in just two years, Johns went from having no new Mack Trucks to having 16 on order.

The Mack LR models, with their advanced maneuverability and fully automated side-loading capabilities, are essential for efficiently collecting waste from over 120,000 homes each week across southeastern Wisconsin. For Johns’ other facets of its operations, the Mack Pinnacle trucks are pivotal in their recycling efforts, hauling mixed recycling to and from different areas of their operations.

Kriete is always there for us. They really care. They’re coming through when they say they will, and it’s reassuring.”

“Knowing that Kriete and Mack Trucks are behind us gives us peace of mind. When they say they’ll be there, they are.”
